Jain Global, the hedge fund founded by Bobby Jain, former co-CIO at Millennium, has added a new portfolio manager to its London team – Zhichao Cai, previously a quantitative researcher at Eisler Capital – according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Can brings applied mathematics expertise from École Polytechnique and is in his early-to-mid 30s, fitting Jain’s stated preference for “35-year-old killers” – talented individuals overlooked at their current firms.
Cai joined Eisler in January 2024 but moved on following the multi-strategy fund’s 14.3% loss last year and its ongoing wind-down. His appointment follows another recent hire, Matt Wolcott, a seasoned Houston-based commodities trader, reflecting Jain Global’s strategy of combining high-potential talent with steady producers.
Jain Global returned 3.7% last year, with the fund’s founder emphasising a long-term approach focused on scaling profitability despite short-term volatility. The firm did not comment on the hire.
